Hey Goldenretrluver!

Well with some dogs that's just what their personality is
and there's only so much you're going to be able to do to change it.
You can change behaviors, but you have to be somewhat
accepting of their personality.

Maddie isn't shy, but she's just never been athletic. If I
took her on a walk, I'd always end up carrying her back,
because she'd poop out. She never had any desire to
jump things. I could not get her to catch anything, even
food. She'd let whatever I threw at her, bounce off her head,
then she'd get it. She would fetch and attack her stuffy toys
and if I took her to the beach, she'd chase the birds
into the surf, but that was about the extent of her activity.

She was so funny when she'd play with Murph. She'd sit
in the middle of the yard, wait for him to dart towards her
and as he darted away, she'd latch onto his tail and he'd
drag her around the yard. Or when they wrestled, she'd
be laying on her side and would just bat one leg at him
from time to time.

She's definitely got a couch potato attitude and would have
just been miserable if I'd tried to drag out to something like
agility. Well she would have loved meeting the people, but
she would turned her nose up at jumping and climbing over
things.
