I think it sounds like you handled it beautifully. Obviously she is aware of the problem so it probably came as no surprise. Other neighbors might have just called the police rather than "fess up" with their frustrations. At least she will hopefully know that if anyone should call the police in the future that it won't be you since you had the courage to speak with her directly. I think the idea of alternating houses is the best solution. We have some teens down the street who used to practice a little in the garage after school and I could hear them 4 houses away. I can't imagine being next door with amplifiers and later in the evening! Hope things will change. You need your beauty sleep (as do we all!)
