There is only one breed - people just pronounce the name differently. It's supposed to sound like "dox-hund" it translates to "badger hunter" which is what they were originally bred to do.

There are three types of dachshunds: smooth coat, wire-haired, & long-haired. Withing those types there are two sizes: standard & mini. There are several different color combinations in each.

I have two smooth coat black and tan standard doxies, Max (8+ yrs.) and Muffin (6 mos.).
