But, Clay was my favorite. IMO, his voice was far and away the better instrument. He worked his register in ways Ruben just simply could not do. But, Ruben has a nice soulful resonance.
And, by the end, I was one of the women finding Clay quite the attractive fellow! I'm on the Clay train, I suppose.
Another thing I enjoyed about Clay was his showmanship. Every move was a part of the package. He never let us down when it came to identifying with the music, lyrics and performance. I don't feel Ruben was able to pull off the kind of stage presence Clay did.
But, I think they are both winners and very talented. I see no reason to say ugly things about anyone on an internet message board. Ridiculing people over your own opinion of their looks or skill is better left to the judges.
Today, I was actually dorky enough to preorder his single from Amazon. (Which, by the way, is reportedly out preselling Ruben's 2-1 at the present time).
I agree completely!
Clay's surely no Ben Affleck, but he is a *bit* of a looker. I love his eyes. He was so supportive of Ruben, and when he won, he was so kind to him, and showed not the least bit of a 'sore loser'. He put lots of motivation in his songs, and definetly held up the statement 'don't judge a book by it's cover.'
I don't think Simon's gay either. My mom told me he had a fiancee. I think Simon's cool too. Paula is too ...weird. I agree with carole, she is way too into herself.
Anyway, they both deserved to win. I would be lucky to actually be on the show, let alone win the American Idol. They both put lots of work and talent into it.![]()
