My favorite colors are many blues
The color snow turns at dusk in the winter
The blue of cobalt glass with sunlight shining through
The periwinkle-soft-blue of spring's first vinca
The million-and-one blues of the ocean on a summer's day
The blue-sky-blue of my Swedish grandpa's eyes
The almost-black-blue of a star-speckled summer night sky
The dark watercolor-sapphire of the stones in my wedding ring.

There are other colors I love well, too:
The bazillion greens of spring's arrival
The fragrant green of hemlock in winter
The shiny green of holly year-round

The yellow of dandelions, or California roadside poppies in April
The many browns of my mother/sister/brother/neice/nephew's eyes
The butter-smooth as silk yellow of tulips
The yellow-gold against purple of Iris
The reds and browns of Zion canyon rocks

How can anyone pick one favorite color
Of all the multi-hued life around us?
