On giving them away for free....Many people consider this a great way to get free snake food. I would never do it, but I could BS myself into looking like a great owner to someone.

Yes, I do think it was a really bad idea to get two gerbils without having a "backup plan", but that's done now and there's nothing to be done about it. You WILL need to separate them, because I can't think of a more miserable life than having litter after litter your entire life.

Will the pet store take the babies back when they're old enough? At work we give people a small amount of store credit for bringing us healthy, socialized animals. Then again, if they get all of their gerbils from the same source the babies could have problems from inbreeding if your pair is related.


Does anyone know the answer to the original question? I'm going to go ask my rat forum, since I'm sure I'll get a straight answer from them rather than a bunch of ranting about something that it's too late to change.
