Has anyone lost a pet? How old was it when you put it down or when it died?

So sad to read about all these losses!

I have lost two cats so far.

The first one was my Aysche, a Persian girl, she was only 20 months old when she was diagnosed with FIP. At that point she was so sick already that we decided to put her sleep to make an end to her suffering.

My second cat was my Katz who lived with me for 14 years. She had severe heart problems in the end and fluid in her lungs, and she didn't respond to her medical treatment anymore. Two days after her 14th birthday she collapsed and that was the moment when I knew a decision had to be made... The vet agreed that it was the best for her to put her to sleep, it was a very hard decision though.
