"They" say when you are dieting you should not totally avoid sweets, that if you totally deprive yourself you will crave them more. Maybe it is the same with smoking...ween yourself slowly and you won't constantly be thinking about the next one. Maybe now you still need one a day...and then maybe in a week it will be every other day...before you know it will be once an week and soon none!!
