If you want to save that chair there is some stuff called Sticky Paws that works great. It is like 2 sided sticky tape and is invisible till enough cat hair is stuck in it then you just need to peel and replace. But I too have a recliner that is becoming rather ratty looking. Sticky Paws however saved my floral sofa. *L*
