I had one litter of three babies. They were big babies too. At 2
weeks, they were the size of 4-week-old rats.

That sounds like our WWR Klee Wyck right now - she just has three
ENORMOUS babies. Seriously, these guys look like sumo wrestlers. I
swear they are at least as large as Beefy's kids who are a week older.
Nobody's ever heard of a ritten exploding from drinking too much
milk, right? ;-) We may actually foster a few babies if Klee doesn't
seem to mind from Becky's unexpectedly huge litter of 16 to give poor
Sally a break. And, of course, the litter of three is one for whom I
had a billion requests - Murphy's Law of rat breeding strikes again!

Well Amy's Kappi had a litter of 2, though 1 died shortly after birth. And Kim's Nat recently had a litter of 3, though the lethal pearl gene may have had something to do with that one.
