#4- our local grocery store gets watermelons in from the south well before they'd even be thinking about being ripe here in New York. As the year goes on, they get produce in from local growers who don't have gaylords readily available for the store's use, so they re-use the watermelon gaylords for the local produce.
#6- It's a short shot from an injection molding machine. It happens more frequently than you'd think. Short shots when making bottles result in bottles blowing out in the second stage of production. Short shots in making plasticware? There's no second operation to expose flaws, so unless the QC department is physically watching everything the machine produces, (and they can't, you'd be looking at thousands of pieces of plasticware per hour) it happens, particularly at the beginning and end of each run.
The one eyed man in the kingdom of the blind wasn't king, he was stoned for seeing light.
