Just asked J what was said in class about 9/11. Nothing. Not a single thing in class. The morning announcements led a moment of silence, but the actual events- nada. He is in a blended class of 1-3rd graders (montessori).

And I shake my head in disbelief. I can understand - given the age of the students in J's class - not going into gory and specific details - but there must be a "kinder and gentler way" to teach the basics of what transpired without scaring them. Do you know what the middle and high schools do? - do they approach the subject at all? It's an event in U.S, history and needs to be taught - just like the Civil War, WW1, WW2, Viet Nam, etc.
Exactly!

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1The clock of life is wound but once and no man has the power
To know just when the hands will stop - on what day, or what hour.
Now is the only time you have, so live it with a will -
Don't wait until tomorrow - the hands may then be still.
