UPDATE: Power is back, and came back on Wednesday late afternoon. Things are back to normal. We got lucky with the basement, by the time we got home, the water was gone but just a few puddles here and there. We used the dehumidifier to help clear out the water as well. Last night we put bleach on the floor in the basement (it is unfinished, we have zero plans to rebuild and make it our own, we are wanting to find another house within the next couple years, this is only our starter home.) AND also, if you were wondering, the puppy WILL NOT be allowed down there as well so he will be blocked out from being able to go down there.

Oh, Rachel, that sounds good - the best plan! Do you know where the water came in?

Yes, it was from overflowing from outside - Our backyard flooded as well as our front yard, so, when the power went out, the sump pump stopped working so - it started to flood. We will have a generator & a backup pump next time.
