    There were a few entries with tail branches, so I'll probably not go there unless it's added on with something else, not a bad idea . Thanks for the ideas

    What about a tree growing from the center of its back, but low and level like a bonsai, and the "roots" wrap and morph into the ribcage, so you can see them popping out of the fur here and there, and the trunk comes up out of the fur, instead of looking just plunked on top like the example you showed?

    Well I gave it a shot and this is what I came up with. I thought a "mane" would be sorta different then the other entries...Do you guys think it looks ok?

    Job well done. I'd just maybe soften the angle of that front shoulder a little so it isn't quite as pointy!
