I always stock up when they have the major brand ice cream sales of buy one and get one free, or some other super low price. At one time last summer,, I had 16 half gallons of various flavors of Breyer's ice cream in the freezer in the garage!
This is mostly what I do too, the 10 dollar coupon on formula was really good but sam's clubs brand formula was cheaper than the name brand with the coupon and its really good formula.

I wish I could convince my DIL that store brands are usually cheaper than the name brands with coupon discounts, in most instances. She thinks she's getting such great buys, but I can get a better price for the same thing in a store brand than she can for a name brand with coupon. Oh well - it's not my money she's wasting. Some things I won't buy store brands if I've tried them and don't like them, but for most part, you can't tell the difference.

We compared the ingredients in similac, enfamil and the kirkland (costco) formula, the enfamil and similac started with sugar as the first ingredient and kirkland did not....hmmmm guess the name brands taste better for a reason...

I don't do couponing at all. I don't like keeping loads of stuff that might sit in the cupboards for ages. The way I save is by taking advantage of good buys by checking our weekly flyers and buying things that I need that happen to be on sale that week. I will stock up on tissue paper, kleenex, paper towels and other stuff like that but not to the point of needing extra storage to keep it in.
