Pat he knows about the treatment, when i mentioned did he have some advantage, he said yes, so why on earth he is not doing it, makes my blood boil, yes her coat is pretty unkempt, but it can look like that on an old and sick cat, but having fleas would make it like that too, i so want to grab some of my revolution and just do her, but really i cannot do that, what if he does do her, and besides it might make her ill, my cat Nikki always gets a little unwell after flea treatment, which vet told me is not uncommon, his cats do as well.

Yes difficult one, but would so love to de flea her,for the life of me can not understand why he won't, the other thing is she is deaf or very hard of hearing, and i so worry as she is outside ,also she sleeps in the middle of their section (which that part is unfenced, )she is very exposed to anything, like a stray dog etc, i mentioned that to him to.

I know you cannot save them all, but at least i could make her life a little better( if only i could,)

So tricky, like on one hand i can see he is genuinely fond of her, in fact i thought he loved the cat,and does not want to part with her, however you have to think of the well being of the cat, not keep it alive for your own selfish reasons, which is what i pointed out in a much nicer way than that, but what i mean't,gosh i would have done anything to keep my baby Ellie with me longer , but i knew she was suffering, and that it was cruel to let her go on anymore.

I would think Pixie probably has several issues going on, that they are choosing not to find out about or treat, but i could be wrong, just have a gut feeling on that one.

If only there was more i could do to help, if only.

Hmm, I know the vet and staff probably can't say much back to you, as in a true conversation, but you can easily drop a hint to them that Pixie lives near you and seems covered in fleas and in need of attention. They will say something like "oh really?" or "I see . . . . " Anyway it was just an idea. You obviously are concerned about Pixie and so tossing ideas around sometimes helps.

Maybe next speak to the wife or kids? Depends on the age of the children of course.

The guy was very easy to talk to and he was not offended by my enquiry, the wife arrived while i was chatting to him, but just went in to the house, sometimes men are better to talk to about these things.

Yes might mention to the vet next time i am out there, but i guess not a lot they can do really.

Did not see the kids, but they look like in their early 30's so kids could be quite young.

I have to wonder if Pixie has ever been to the vet , he mentioned he takes the dogs there, so who knows,i just gotta be a bit careful is all, but yes Pixie is still on my mind, i don't let things go easily i can tell ya.

Oh Carole, that's a difficult situation. The poor kitty must be suffering. Perhaps you can print out something about various health problems and give to him next time you see him. The fleas should definitely be treated now! The cat probably needs the ears cleaned, too.

I hope the owner will do something about it.

    Thanks for caring, Carole.

Carole, could you perhaps offer to give Pixie the flea treatment as a neighborly, fellow-cat-lover gesture?

When you do speak with them again (see, I KNOW youa re going to, this is really becoming a mission for ya! and that is a GOOD thing!), maybe remind them the cat can NOT have the fleas treatment they use on the dog; and maybe also that fleas can cause a cat to become anemic and die. I know this is true for kittens, I imagine for a senior kitty this could also happen.

You are thinking this through, making sure you aren't too "nosy," good job, Carole!

I agree with Freedom. If money is a bit tight for them, you could say that you have the flea treatment for cats, and offer a "dose" to them. You could even demonstrate how to put it on little Pixie.

If she has fleas, she likely has worms too - and a treatment might enable her to gain some weight!

These people might become friends too - what a nice bonus!

You're a wonderful person in trying to help this kitty. I agree those fleas should be taken care of for the kitty's sake and should be brought to the vet no matter what. I too believe this kitty needs help and I hope the owner realizes this very soon.

I am feeling anxious i have not seen her for a few days now, hopefully she is just inside, there are a few scenarios, going over in my mind, hopefully she is just inside, or she may have been to the vet and put to sleep,or worst case she has just taken off to die somewhere or she is hurt,i just hope it is the first one, or even the second if that is what needed to be done,i will go for another walk this evening to see if i can spot her, it is weird as she is always out there, but for about three days i have not seen her, pray she is ok.

Could you call the SPCA? Would they tell you anything?

Or maybe your vet would call for you.

no ,there is no point calling the SPCA, as they were not even going to get there until wed, this week, and no my vet can not do anything, went past three times in the car today, no sign of her, she could be hiding in bushes, but it is so unlike her not to be around, maybe they have taken her to the vet and had her put to sleep, who knows, hopefully when SPCA visit i will hear back from them and they can tell me what happened to her.
