well I know this makes me happy that they will stay with PET TALKERS!
and I'm wondering instead of a plaque if Phred would rather the funds for something like that go to his dogs during their lifetime. I know if it were up to us PET TALKERS we would put a life size statue of him at the park but truth be told I really don't think he wanted a lot of fanfare. And knowing his dogs would be taken care of he would really REST IN PEACE! I know he'll be around checking on all of us.

I think we could do both...a little plastic plaque, like the one already on it a few screws and a cordless drill, and we should be able to attach it overselves overselves. I can check into have something made, but I don't think it would cost much.

I am SO sad to hear of Phred's passing. Am glad the pups will be going to a PTer. I can't type anymore through my tears.

The mystery is solved. Phred's dogs will be come to live with us. His friends don't feel they can take them permanently. His sister will not be a part of the equation. I hope they will be ours the rest of their lives but that makes us a 7 dog family with 6 grandogs who often visit (although now that Christy lives in Findlay her 3 don't come as often). The important part of this is that not only do all the dogs need to get along on a day to day basis (which is quite different from a visiting basis) but the dogs have to get along with the grandkids. Can't have a biting dog here. Not too worried about Jasmine at almost 7 but that 4 year old Dominic has no fear of dogs and can pull some not so thought out tricks. Like jumping at them and screaming "boo!" Or just running pell-mell at them. Or getting down in their faces when they are eating. He is way too used to all the dogs in his life putting up with his shenanigans. Remember little boys aren't long for warnings and have a heck of an impulse factor going for them.

For the most part I think things will work out. Phred's dogs are around the age of 10 now and ours are getting older too which certainly mellows them out. I am a little concerned about the money - Carl and I both had are jobs eliminated over five years ago and with the ones we now have we are living on less than half of what we did then. Brian has left Christy and is not sending as much money as he should be so we find ourselves helping them out often. The day to day costs aren't so much of a worry but dog licenses are coming up and of course vetting fees. I think Phred gives the dogs heartworm medicine year round and I am sure he must use the flea meds in the summer. However, I can't see letting the Prayer Pups go to strangers so we may have to look into welfare for dogs (LOL). I am sure the neighbors and many others will think we are crazy (I certainly don't intend to tell my mother) but you got to do what you got to do.

Phred was always there for us and now we have to be there for his pets.
I think we just received a Christmas miracle! I'm in tears, and for the first time in 24 hr., happy, slobbery tears, knowing that Phred's precious furkids will be loved and well cared for, all the days of their lives. I have no words to express my gratitude for your incredible act of kindness, truly in the Phred mode! And to think they will remain in the Pet Talk family is more than we might have ever hoped for! Our beloved Phred is surey looking down from heaven, smiling. I know I would be more than happy, honored, to contibue to their care on a monthly basis. One question..does your town have any limitations regarding the number of pups you're allowed, before you have to apply for a kennel license? Here it's 3! Thank you so much for all you're doing, for Phred, his kids, and all Pet Talkers!

Amy I love the idea of having a plaque made, I'd contribute.

Diana, you and Carl are angels. I'm sure that Phred is looking down thanking you.
If they don't have their license yet please let me know and I'll send you the money for them...it's the least I can do. After all he helped with Roxey's surgery and this would give me a way to pay him back

I believe my parents looked into this before, when they had 6 and my sister's 3 were with them for over a year. They thought it may be cheaper to buy a kennel license then 9 tags. But if I recall there are no limits to the number of dogs you can have in Findlay.

You only have to have a kennel's license if you are breeding the dogs. As long as you are keeping the dogs as just pets, you don't have to get a kennel's license. Somebody told me once it would be cheaper to have one but I don't think that that was true in reality. Our town does not have a limit as far as number of dogs go but if the neighbors complain about the noise, smell (gotta clean up after all those dogs) or you are not taking care of them, they can take them away. We are outside of the city limits though so I am not sure that would apply to us anyway and I know the county does not have a limit.

I'm in deep shock right now and can't believe Phred is actually gone.

Diana & Carl, you two are truly angels for keeping the prayer pups and Heidi in your family and the PT family. I know Phred is smiling down knowing his kids will be so well taken care of. Like someone said, if/when you need help, please send up the flare. Phred has done sooo much for sooo many people that the least we can all do is make sure his kids are taken care of for as long as they may need.

The picture that MOFF posted has our first motorhome in the background from one of the infamous Memorial Day gatherings - that Phred was so instrumental is setting up.

When Tubby died, Phred made a donation to Best Friends in Utah. We had the pleasure of visiting Best Friends this past summer. What a fantastic place for pets in need of a home & medical help. You can bet I will be making a donation in Phred's name real soon!

Yes, God must have needed a very special angel, but what are we all to do down here on "the 'ol dirt ball" without him?

Yeah, I'm not sure that would be true, either. Here, to have a kennel license, you also have to have kennel facilities: fenced in dog runs which are indoor and outdoor, and the indoor facility has to have drainage for washing it down.

Blessings to you Diana and Carl, for taking the 3 Amigos!

I really like the idea of a plaque as well.
I have a feeling now that he is free of a hindering body he is soaring all over the world visiting all the PT people he never got to meet or hasn't seen in a long time.

What a beautiful thought, Staci! I'll be listening for a tap on the window, a noise on the roof, or just a loving feeling in the air, and I'll know its Phred.
