The MP on duty gets jabbed with a knife & has to have a butterfly band-aid put on his tiny wound does that mean a purple heart? Should the MP be treated better than the paper pusher who loses an arm, & eye. Is it a political thing with the military?

Has to be in the line of duty in combat with the enemy, so no, a barfight in Saigon doesn't count.
