I can just hear you guys...I am not wrong. The only time I was wrong was once when I though I was wrong...

So instead...Shoot the messenger! So predictable - amusing though predictable.

You guys make quite a team...

Actually, ES, while Puck and I do chat away from these threads, the discussions rarely have anything to do with who's wrong or right. You see, we're mature enough to discuss and disagree without throwing bombs.

Actually, in this case, the person who is posing as the messenger is actually engaging in nothing more than vapid bomb throwing.

    Annoying, but predictable.

If you've had one solitary positive comment since you're return from lurking, I must have missed it.

If you have nothing to contribute other than cause dissent and discord, why are you still here?

Debate and discussion are more than welcome. You, madame, aren't here to discuss, just to flame other posters.

    Wow...

In tune with how this is going right now...

"neener...neener...neener!!!" "My dad can beat up your Dad!"

And please, spare us the "yeah, see!".

Debate requires points and counter points be offered. FYI. LOL A counter point is not "you are wrong".

I am not sure who you are talking about.

But, I know there are good people here. (On both sides of the debate.) I know there are common sense people here. (On both sides of the debate.)

What does 'avoiding conflict' have to do with anything? This is the 'Politics and Religion' thread. Both topics are, well, controversial. The entire premise of this thread IS conflict, so to speak. Further, I encourage you to read about the personal lives of our founders. They actually encouraged vigourous debate. To seek it out even. Because they knew, as I realise, that you never get any where preaching to the choir.... Now, I know that injures the sensibilities of many on this forum. Oh well. LOL I like to live in realityville.

As for bullies... Well, I reckon that is in the eye of the beholder. I try, REALLY hard to not 'bully'. Some people here think that simply posting a retort to a post is "bullying". Again... Oh well.

But take notice who it usually is making the "bully" accusations... You know, rather than offering a intelligent retort to real questions. "When you can't win the arguement, control the language."

Why is that a shocker Liz? You have an original idea to add to ANY conversation?

I've asked you to comment on things, many times... You almost never answer and when you do, it's petty stuff like this.

You have better ideas? We would love to hear them.

Or, you can carry on as usual.

    Back on topic.

    "It's the economy, stupid."

A National debt that will soon equal 90%+ of our GDP. 109 TRILLION and growing of unfunded entitlement liability.

    Then, this....

I'm calling out the Baby Boomers again... What are you willing to risk for your posterity? I don't care if you do not have any children of your own.

You life? Your fortune? Your sacred honor?

SS at 70? 72? Would you vote against a person who suggests such a thing?

Or, we can continue to play word games. Your choice.

How about we start by getting the Federal Government back into its Constitutional role and start paring away the pieces which aren't authorised by either amendment of the establishment clauses?

Every four years, the DoD goes through a bottom up review of programs called the Quadrennial Defense Review.

There are no sacred cows in the QDR, and if it is used properly, it leads to the elimination of boondoggles such as FCS, Land Warrior, RAH-66, and other vaporware.

The concet of the QDR needs to be put in place for the Federal bureaucracy as a whole. Why on earth we still have the Rural Electrification Commission in place is beyond me (Though it is no longer a separate entity, it has been rolled into the Department of Agriculture).

No program should be exempt, with the exception of those programs/budget items which are required constitutionally.

I really like one of Heinlein's ideas about government. No more automatic extensions for programs. Vote EVERY YEAR to either continue them or not. An added bonus to that would be that Congress would then be so tied up keeping the Government running they wouldn't have time to interfere more in areas where they shouldn't be treading to begin with.
