Not to be a party pooper or anything, I enjoy viewing fireworks as much as the next person but last night was awful for us. The neighbors behind us and across from us were setting off fireworks, and Mikey is ABSOLUTELY terrified of the sounds. He was barking for 2 straight hours, almost hurt himself multiple times until we put him in his cage. He is still hoarse and his throat hurts. He hasn't barked all morning. It was so sad to see him so scared when he is usually fearless of most things. I don't mind fireworks displays but why people need to set off illegal fireworks in neighborhoods is beyond me.

I agree! Casey was scared to death.. I hate the fireworks people buy they are noisy and messy and dangerous.

You can move up here, where fireworks are illegal except for sparklers ...

Love your pictures from the fireworks, Karen. While looking at them, it felt like actually being there. And the pictures of the sky are awesome! Were they taken at sunset? Thanks for sharing your great shots!

Yes, the fireworks were scheduled for 9 o'clock, and sunset was happening just as arrived, I try to get there early enough to get a good parking spot that is not too too far away, and in a parking lot as I am not a good parallel parker. So as I emerged from behind the school and through the trees, that was the sunset sky before me!

You must understand - my mother was a fireworks fanatic. I feel obligated to go, whenever fireworks are being offered. And I knew that someone might miss them because of rain - happens somewhere every year, so I took lots of pictures so you can enjoy them, with the plus side of it being quiet!

I am literally half deaf, so the noise is not even as loud for me as it is for most people. I love it every year!

Beautiful! Thank you, Karen. Almost like being there!
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

Your lucky! I think they should be here too. Only those trained should be setting off fireworks in my humble opinion.

I'm with you Alyssa. What gets me is when people feel the need to set off fireworks ALL WEEK LONG. One night...ok. The nights leading up to and following the fourth? Let people sleep for crying out loud!

I had to drag Jasper outside for the second day in a row. Not really a fan of the fireworks.

Alyssa, my Layla isn't fond of fireworks. The towns display doesn't bother her as much as the neighborhoods non stop noise every year. She spent most of the night in the bathroom. Thank goodness it was really hot and I had the AC on all night. Please tell Mikey Layla can feel his pain.

Great pictures everyone. I haven't seen a fireworks display in person for several years now. I do still hear plenty of them because I live close to an amusement park and some of my neighbors will also set them off even though they're illegal here. I heard them last night well into the 1am hour. Luckily my cats weren't too scared because I was there to comfort them.

Wow, those are great pictures!! I can never get good fireworks pictures.

We saw fireworks last night and it was the very first time I was COLD!! We were camped near Leadville, CO, which is over 10,000 feet and it was only about 45 degrees and windy! The fireworks were still pretty though.
