I am back from my trip to CT and had the most splendid time with my niece and my son Slacker.
I was suppose to get to CT on Friday night but got bumped and got there at 2pm on Sat, they did put me on a direct flight, which was nice.
Slacker having driven from NJ got there at 1pm. We had a lovely lunch together and then on to the most important thing which was a game of Risk between Slacker and Doc.
I played as well but the roommates as I refer to them (shared an apartment at Ohio State) were really, really into it. Slacker and Doc have played about 65 games and Slacker has won every single one. It took six hours and many snacks but Slacker beat us both soundly. He then went to a hotel to spend the night, got up at 6am and was back in NJ by noon. He drove all that way to beat his poor cousin into a frenzy of agony at another lost game of Risk, also to see ole mom as he is being sent to Kuwai for a year. It was so good to see him. He is my oldest and there are no words to describe how much I love him and how proud I am of him.
On Sunday Doc who lives in Vernon Ct with her dog and three cats took me to Mass where there is Butterfly Place, it was lovely and very educational. I will post pictures later tonight. It was about 90 minute drive, then right down the street was the Yankee Candle Outlit. The Yankee Candle Outlit is huge, takes hours and hours to go through all the stores, there is a Christmas store, candy store, a household section, baked goods, candles of course, Santa and the Mrs. Claus are there. Doc and I spent about four hours shopping, I could have continued but the candle smell was overwhelming sometimes. Then we went home, I took her wonderful dog Mac for a nice long walk (love walking Mac) and then we had a great dinner and watched two movies, Sex in the City and Julia/Julie both excellent.
Sunday I took her shopping for several things as her birthday is coming up and then it was on to the airport. But first and ice cream for us both, banana split her and her dad’s favorite.
I had such a great time. Doc is so much like my daughter in looks and temperament. She is like another daughter to me, always has been, we just always connected in our hearts.
Later in was off to the airport with a stop over in Philly for three hours.
Please let me warn each and every one of you. If you have a lay over in Philly the airport is a shoppers dream and I spent three hours shopping, just little things because I had already bought a lot of items at the Yankee Candle store and then on Sunday for Doc but oh my gosh can one shop till you drop.
I had the best time, have this huge smile on my face, it felt so good to see them both and to be able to spoil Doc a little.
Mass and Ct are beautiful states. Can’t wait to go back.
