SmokeMutt came with a "Luxating Patella" - courtesy of his first owner
and a probable KICK to the knee.
Smokey had three ways of dealing with it when it went "out" ...

1) Let out a *YIPP*, stop, then *SHAKE* the leg out straight to pop it back "in"

2) Just *tuck it up* and run on the good Three ... FixZit later

3) Do the *YIPP* and Find Dad! He'd *tuck it up* and hobble over to me
A) A *WHINE* to attract attention
B) He'd Assume the Position: Stand on three; extend the bum knee leg
C) I'd put my thumb on the displaced kneecap and give the Vet-approved *push*
D) (Grit my teeth) and feel the knee return to its proper position
E) Smokey would extend /retract the knee a couple times (Quality Check)
F) If he could spare the time, a quick **KISS** for Dad
G) Turn & *RACE* off on all Four ... good for another thousand steps.

About a year and a half afer his arrival, The Knee quit acting up - I think
the Knee gave up causing trouble because Smokey ignored it!

Smokey has gone almost 10 years on his "Bum Knee" without sir jury - and
only ONE vet visit a few years ago when the knee "acted up" for a few days.

Good Luck to Cindy!!
OUCH! Not sure it is exactly the same way. This knee needed surgical intervention. I believe there are grades of these things. Cindy has implants, I believe to keep the patella in its place. BUT, as to the other knee, maybe the re-do by hooman might work!
