See, I'm just the opposite. I'm used to having a big kitty. Taz was 21.5 lbs at his heaviest. So Paizly always looks sooo teeny to me and she's almost 2. I think she weighs less than 10lbs.

Personally I think Felix looks just right! You can tell how big he is in the picture of him and Gypsy though. But he doesn't appear to be TOO heavy. And with a face like that, who cares how big he is?
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Felix sure is growing into a very handsome cat. Males are usually much larger than females but don't let my Ziggy know this. I don't think he's fat at all. My Pearl is a petite 9lbs, Storm is my longest and largest cat and is 14.1lbs, Sky is probably 12-13lbs, and my youngest cat Ziggy Stardust, who is a female, is most likely 15-16lbs and I think she's still growing. She's as large as Sky but much heavier and she'll be 4 in June.

I think he looks great. If you want Mutt & Jeff try Bart at 26 lb (about 12 years old) and Penny at 8 lb (almost 3 years old). Penny just adores Bart and he her. They love to snuggle on the bed. All you see is this big orange fluff ball with a small black and brown spot tucked into him. The oposite cornners of the sig. picture.

Our last big big kitty was Mitch, and he died probably in 2002. Cole was our last male, but I don't think he ever really got over 6 lbs...he was a SKINNY cat (in spite of our efforts, haha).

Thanks everyone He really does have a loveable face - I just wish he wasn't such an evil mastermind bahaha.

I'm just SO amazed at how fast he's grown...here he was, the teeny thing we rescued [excuse the mess...we kitten proofed it right after this photo]:

He had NO belly then - and since we got him it hasn't stopped growing! hahaha.

I know! And once we got the fleas taken care of...kiss it I did! He was SUCH a sweetheart that first week or so we had him...he wasn't used to having a house full of humans and took any cuddle he could get!

Felix isn't fat and he has the cutest kissable nosie.
But I feel it is worth to follow up. I feel there are very few cats that can carry over 13-14 lb. Our Tigris was like that and it was the limit.
Some small cats can be a lot smaller- 10 lb is what you would consider an average cat.
If cats get heavier they are prone to the same diseases people can get, namely diabetes and heart problems.
But not now- no certainly not

lol Pawsitive - that's what I tell him. Can't have a cat with low self confidence!

barbara - yeah, I'll see what the vet says the next time we take him in. I have no idea when that is...but I don't think it's for a few more months, at least. Though..depending on how it goes...we may have to take him in to have his nails trimmed hahaha
