    Talk about a mixed blessing.......

I'm happy the Sox are opening the season.

    But......

They're opening the season against the damned Yankees.

And I live in New York.

Which means the game is blacked out on ESPN.

Which mmeans I have to watch it on the )(#*&)@(*#%&)@#($*&)@#(*$&)(@#*$&)(@#*$&)(*@#&$)(*@#&$)(*@#&$%@#_)(&!@_#(*!&#%_)@($&%^)@ Yankees network.

    Hmmmmmm ...

He seems less than "pleased" about the arrangements.

Hope the Postmaster General isn't gonna toss the first pitch.

Due to illness, the DH and I did not make it to the pre-season game for the Phillies on Friday 4/2.

Don't feel badly, we have Charlie Steiner.

I would prefer watching it on NESN. The pre-game show was fantastic. Then all of a sudden it was blacked out and we get ESPN - since we live in Michigan, I guess.

Oh well, the game is worth the price of admission - no matter the location.

Switching back and forth between the Sox and Women's NCAA basketball - GO UCONN!!

Doesn't get any better than this. Sox win and so do the UCONN women.

I have one thing to say:
Welcome back to Philadelphia Placido Polanco!!!!
    Go Phillies!
I love it when the visiting teams crowd cheers louder than the home team and during the 7th inning stretch you hear "it's root root root for the Phillies" loud and clear even though they are in Washington, DC!

The commish office is making changes to the game by mandating My Sharona be sung instead of "Take Me Out".

You misread the article, Richard. Actually it's "My Bologna" by Weird Al. He didn't charge as much of a rights fee.

    I just read this...

    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lano...lapd-says.html

The LAD's have never allowed any tailgating at the stadium, ever...

The other article I read said that even people eating besides their cars were told to pack up the food and go into the stadium.

NO HANGING AROUND THE PARKING LOT.

What a bunch of morons. Now, I do realize the junk and littering, that and the fact that one year some idiots made a BBQ and they pushed the grill under a car which caught on fire - are obnoxious and cost money to clean up, but this has been a real turn off to the people who are not drinking or causing problems..........they just want to grab a bite and a drink before they
go and get hammered with the prices inside.

8 bucks for a twelve ounce beer?

I can buy a 12-er of Pabst and have a little money left over for a bag of chips and a can of salsa if I stay home.

And I don't have to worry about dragging my shoelaces thru the nasty floors of the restrooms where people pee on the floor because they can't hold their booze.

I don't have to worry about tailgating. I think I said this in the Baseball 2009 thread, but some things bear repeating...

Have you SEEN the Orioles play???

Well, I missed the Phillies pre-season game on 4/2, but made it to the Opening Night game on 4/14.
    We had a blast.
Started out poorly, starter Kyle Kendrick only pitched 2 innings.
But the Phillies ended up winning 14-7!
