Such a sad ending to a long life, but if he was declining, perhaps his humans did right by him. They did what they felt was the right thing - at least they didn't let him suffer needlessly, as I'm sure they wouldn't have had the drive that would have been needed to properly care for him.
RIP Puss.

What a long life Pusseidon had , but sadly that makes his passing all the sadder as he was such a big part of his Familys life.
But we all have to go if we want to be in the Awesome Angels Army and tour the World , and its was Pusseidins turn to join all the Good Pets and People in Paradise.
Now hes in Panama with the Awesome Angels and will start the Search for a place where Pusseidon and Friends can share the love for Purr^^ternity.
