Lady, I'd be happy to pet you!

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought of the Steppenwolf song "Born To Be Wild".

When I was very little my great-grandparents lived near the old Santa Fe Speedway ... Rrrrrrr! Rrrrrrr! They had auto racing at Sportsman's Park outside Chicago for a few summers in the early '00s - we could hear it from my mom and dad's yard ... Rrrrrr! Rrrrrr!

So - could I have a Sam Adams, please?

Aaahh, I have been defrosted! Thank you, Bonny and Asiel!
Brrrr, I've been Frosted! Thank you, Asiel and Pomtzu!

    Hi everyone!!! **waves**
I don't know nuttin' about no car races. All I care about is sitting back on this big comfy couch and watching you all play with your toy cars.

I'll take a nice warm cup of tea please. I'm leaving here shortly to go "puppy cuddling". How cool is that?
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

Don't drink and cuddle. Alcohol makes you do stuff, like bringing home puppies!

    DONE!

The USPS is losing money. Got it.

    HOWEVER...........

We're reworking our office, which include reworking quite a bit of the LAN architecture. We have a spare switch currently not in use. To move offices in accordance with their plans, we need more LAN access in one area.

My proposed solution..........take one of the site spares from the rack it is currently in, move it to the rack where we need more active ports, cable it appropriately, and problem is solved. Total cost=the labor required to do the cabling and moving the switch.

    Management's solution:

Buy a new switch ($3500) and put it in the rack which needs more capability.

    So.........

    $3500 to buy a switch we don't need, but I can't get a $50 bench vise?

$800 for a welder, but we can't get another ratchet set for one of the mechanics?

Tell me again that it's labor's fault we're losing money.

In the meantime, dump a bottle of Baileys into a cup for me and put enough coffee in it to get it warm, please.

Minor correction........then we'd only have two spares, not three, and the spare switches are less than a year old. I realize that's an eternity in tech terms, but the systems on the network are anywhere from 2-25 years old....I don't think they need the level of connectivity that a new system requires.

Old tech is still needed and used, a guy on another board is looking for a HPCN50 to HPCN50 SCSI cable. I thought I had one but I dont, I do have a couple of 50 pin SCSI/25 pin cables though.
