I wish I could get in to watching movies, since my son has hundreds of DVD's in his collection, but if it doesn't "grab" me in the first 5 or 10 minutes, then I'm done with it. And try to watch one on t.v.? - forget that - I'm asleep before the first commercial.

I could count on one hand, with fingers left over, the number of new movies I have watched from start to finish, this past year. However, if I do manage to get thru a whole movie, that means I really liked it, and will watch it repeatedly without tiring of it.

I subscribe to Netflix with 3 at a time unlimited. I end up watching a lot of movies. I can also stream movies over the internet to my media computer that is connected to My projector. I can watch netflix, the network channels like ABC, and HULU. This gives me access to thousands of movies and TV shows. I generally watch them by my self, because if I ask my wife down to watch she is usually snoring about a half hour into the movie. When we were dating she actually went to sleep at the movie theater. If we are watching a Football game for her Team Auburn, she will usually stay awake, at least till half time.

We have DirecTV, and each month we receive their guide to what's on. I spend a day or two checking out all the movies, make a list, and program them to record.

Finally got my list down to 4 left to watch, but the oldest of those is from last January - The Bridge Over the River Kwai. It's fun watching some of the older movies I saw way back when - as well as some of the more recent ones.

Plus we go to the theater near our house to see the very new ones. We went last Monday, going again this coming Monday, and I'm going on Tuesday by myself. Senior rates are a lovely thing.

Ellie - did you ever go to the Kent or Greenwich movie theaters in East Greenwich?

Sure did - I think it was the Greenwich. I remember it was on the right hand side if you were headed south toward Quonset.

My best friend and I used to walk there many a time for the Saturday matinee. Can you imagine that??? - walk!!!! That was quite a hike from Apponaug.

The Greenwich was the first one you came to - about a block past the Post Office. The Kent was way at the other end of town - also on the right side of the street.

Yeah - that's quite a walk, but we didn't think twice about it back then. I used to bike all the way to my grandmother's house in Pontiac - from West Shore Road.

And Rosie used to walk to school every day, no matter the weather, from East Greenwich to Lockwood.

Then it must have been the Kent, since it was on the south end, and I remember going past a lot of other establishments before getting there. The kids now would just ask Mom or Dad to drive them there.

Oh how I remember old Rosie - smiling the whole way. Of course, she couldn't do anything but smile. It used to crack me up: her chewing someone out in class with that smile on her face. It was difficult for the rest of the class to keep a straight face. I know - I'm bad!

I watched G-Force yesterday on blu-ray and Beverly Hills Chihuaua this morning via Netflix streaming. Neither was as bad as I thought it would be.

With my new streaming Netflix I suppose I'll be watching a lot more movies.

Up In The Air with George Clooney. I liked it, but don't think it was a good as the critics said.

I preferred the one he did last year - Michael Clayton.

Yesterday I saw Sherlock Holmes, and I LOVED it! I want it on DVD as soon as it comes out.
Today I watched Across The Universe yet again. I love the Strawberry Fields Forever sequence so much I've thinking about getting flaming strawberry bombs as a tattoo since about July. That'd have to be in a while though, I still have to get my octopus colored.

Avatar. It was really good, but not as epic as everyone claims. I saw the 3d version and in some scenes it made a visually jam-packed movie too "busy". It was over 2 and a half hours long, but the story never dragged.

Alvin and the Chipmunks, the Squeakel!

It was okay, lots of adult references that went over J's head. He wanted to leave 45 minutes into it, but for 6 something a ticket, I made him stay.

I have Julie and Julia on loan from my sister. If I can find a night where I am not as tired as my 5 year old I might watch it!
