    Now to dig out!!!

We ended up with about 20" - give or take a couple. It's beautiful - looked awesome last night with the outside blue Christmas lights on the house shining on it. The pups hate it since they are too little to be able to walk around in it, so my son had to shovel a potty area for them. A plow finally made it down our road, but he was struggling, and it's going to take a lot more passes to make it somewhat drivable. Oops!!! - there is now a plow stuck in front of the house!! I wonder how long before a car ends up in the ditch in front of the house. Happens all the time - people driving too fast or when they shouldn't be at all.

Schools already announced last night that they will be closed Monday. My son and grandson are trying to get at least one of the vehicles to where it could get out in case it would be needed in an emergency. The other 2 aren't going anywhere for a while. I'm just staying put anyway until it's safer to venture out.

    Here's a few pics I took this a.m.

Oh yeah - we had it bad that year too - one like that I hope to never see again.

Had the same problem - snow drifted to within an inch of the top of the sliding glass door - had to exit from the front and tunnel to the back of the house to dig the snow from the deck to get the glass door open. National Guard out checking on people because no one could get out. After 4 days I was finally able to get out to go to work. Roads were plowed open - one lane only - and piled so high on either side of the road that it was like driving thru a snow tunnel! If you met a car coming in the opposite direction, one of you had to back up till you could find an area wide enough for both to get by. Now that was a snow storm to remember!!!

We are dug out. It took three hours this morning with a heavy duty snowthrower and shoveling, but we're cleared. I would estimate we were on the high end of the snow total, 24-28 inches. Our road has not been touched, but people are able to navigate it, and the sun is shining brightly to help things. It really is beautiful.

We were lucky here on the eastern shore of MD; only got about an inch or two at the most! That is quite enough for me after living through record snowfalls in Baltimore for 30 years! We lived in a rowhouse up there and when there was a lot of snow, there wasn't any place to put it once you started shoveling. Our front yard was stacked high with snow, taller than I am.

No one had garages, so we all parked on the street. Getting our cars out was usually a neighborhood effort; the person at the end of the block would be dug out first, he would move his car and we'd move on to the next one. Trouble was, if you shoveled your car out and put the snow on the street, the plow would come through at night and push it right back where it came from.

It's pretty at first, then it becomes a nuisance. I like to look at it, but there I draw the line...........

You can have all the snow you want, I hate it for practical reasons. We got 6" but it looked more like a foot with the blizzard conditions. I hope I never see snow again altho I'm sure the East Coast will get plenty more. For the first snowfall tho it was pretty big. I should never have left good old San Diego

No plow yet? Bummer. Because with that much snow, you are going to have to do it all over again once they do plow. At least you have a snow thrower. LOL All I have is a sore back. Then again, I only have a small frontage to remove.

I'm so jealous of you guys!! We got a measly 5" here in Allentown, and I'm so disappointed! We didn't have any delay for school today, definitely not a day off. We're all dug out, if you could call 5" diggable, and it's melting away. SIGH..... I wanted tons of snow!!!

You've been here - Coop uses that beast of a snowthrower to plow our driveway, Dan's driveway, Glenn's driveway, Lucinda's driveway, the common driveway, and, as you said, after the plow comes through (which it did with 45 minutes to spare before our guests came) he goes back up to the top of the common drive to get rid of the wall created by the plowing. We have to use a big one! I get the shoveling - I might have to renegotiate that contract next time!
