ok so I am going to hope to avoid that one...OMG! That had to be so scary.....

I had a CT scan of my chest a few years back. The only thing I discovered was that I have very sensitive veins evidently. They have to slam the dye in and take the picture almost immediately. Well they didn't warn me about the slam part. I almost dropped an F bomb, but turned it into FUDGE!!!! in the middle...at the top of my lungs. They got me out to the waiting area to go back to the ER and my husband was waiting. I waited until the nurse had left the area and completely fell apart...

The dye can be a problem. I'm so sorry you had a bad reaction. My mom is deathly allergic to the dye, too, and her blood pressure dropped to almost nothing when she had a catherization. Is that what happened to you? How in the world can you know in advance of the test if you're going to have a problem? My CT scans have been from the neck, down. I think I've had 3 total now, all with dye, but all for different reasons. I never had a problem.
I do hope you got an answer and that next time, they will know not to give you the dye! good luck to you.

It actually wasn't scary for me at all since I had no clue of what happend. The person who suffered the brunt of it all was hubby who kept hearing "code blue" and watching nurses and doctors rushing in and out of the room. When I was wheeled out they had a white sheet draped over me but he couldn't see my head and thought all of me was under the sheet....scary for him- you betcha.
