I'm definitely a "jeans and T-shirt" kinda gal, so I just don't get the designer purse or the shoe thing. I don't think I even own a purse. If it doesn't fit in my pocket, I probably don't need it. If I'm going anywhere that I need to bring extra stuff (like Disneyworld, or the race track) I have a small backpack that fits the need.
