ES- when I bought one four years ago..my cats were too scared to use it, too. The pump was just too loud. I thought they made them quieter now

  2. Once it gets started the pump is SILENT. Our mistake was letting her hear the startup noise!

I have a drinkwell fountain and Sunny and Storm love it. They still drink from their old watering hole too. Pepper hasn't used it yet but I've noticed that all 3 of my guys are drinking a lot more water these days which is a good thing especially since they are males. I also bought the attachment so it holds more water. I use bottled water because my water is very hard and the instructions said that this could wear out the pump. I bought mine at Petco. Here's a picture of Sunny drinking from the fountain.

we have the fountain, but we also tried building one for the cats... they liked the ready made one better, so we ended up selling the one we built..

We have the drinkwell fountain like the photo by krayaboutkatz. It's really been amazing. The amount of clumps in the box leads me to believe they are drinking much more water. I like that its filtered and it seems to stay cleaner. Highly recommend!

my guys like the water fountain

They all drink from the fountain, although they still like to sip water from the glass on my night table. They even drink from my coffee cup sometimes. Nothing is sacred in my house!

  8. That's the one I bought for Edwina! Could Gabe come by and hold her paw -- reassuring her that it won't attack her???

She is drinking out of it (still unplugged) but with an attitude of anxiety! (at least when I'm in the room!)

    Swimming lessons are a must!

    Dead Edwina,

Ask your Mom to turn the water flow/production lever to the left, all the way, that way the water will flow more slowly and the motor won't run so loudly. Also, if you put the entire contraption on a towel, it dulls the noise of the motor.

We love our water fountain Edwina, but we are rough and tumble style cats and not much matters to us. We hear things crashing around us all the time (I think Gabe and Miley are the ones making the noice...certainly not me) and so a little purr of an engine is nothing for us to deal with.

So drink up my dear, water is good for the furr and whatever else ails you.

    Love,

    Grammy Crackers

    P. S. Gabe is busy right now, making out his letter to Santa. I have a funny feeling he is wasting his time. He has been, well, just ok, but I wouldn't say a GOOD BOY. I think I may be getting all the good gifts this year.

What do you want from Santa this year, Edwina?

  10. So Edwina is sitting there this morning chatting with me as I get dressed. I notice her longing glances at the humidifier and remember something my husband said. So I take one of the resevoirs off and she drinks the water like she has been in the desert for 40 days. Her little head is right next to the fan motor.

I think I (or at least the $$$$ cat fountain) have been dissed.

  11. I think the chipmunk will need to bring a few friends to carry the fountain!

Perhaps this is one of chippie's friends? SHe was knocking at my door!

  12. Sorry guys...Edwina, after seeing her canine cousins use it over the weekend THINKS she might want the fountain after all.

So the chipmunks will just have to pack up the bus....maybe with some of her other stuff!

  13. Lady Edwina has never...and probably never will...eat a bird! She can't ever catch them (not that she tries too hard) and if she did catch one she has NO idea what to do next!!!!

So you guys are safe...as well as the chipmunk and every other animal ...small and large....
