Greta 9 yr old Kicked Outside! Please Help Her! I can help with Transporting!!

    http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/dis...petid=13953258

My name is Greta. I am about 9 years old and as you can see, I'm a Scottishfold. I had a very nice life a few years ago, but recently things have changed when my mom met a new boyfriend. I couldn't adjust to sharing my mom, so I was asked to leave. My mom still takes care of me, but I am living outdoors now. I can stay in the garage if it's cold or rainy, but it's not as comfortable.

I am hoping that someone can open their heart and home for me. I have a pleasant personality, but do enjoy having my person to myself. I don't demand much attention, I look forward to lots of quiet time. I look forward to being brushed and petted, playtime is something I don't get too much of, but once I am in a home I would have more time to be relaxed enough for play. I may need some patience at first in my new home, I have gone through alot and change is hard for me.

Shortly after I was put outside, I injured my eye. It doesn't look so great, but I have been to the vet and my injury appears to be cosmetic. I am hoping that someone can overlook this, I realize to many it makes me look ugly, but I'm hopeful that someone out there can see my inner beauty!

So you remember, my name is Greta. I am 9 years and deserve a safe home to live out the rest of my life. I am spayed and up to date with my vaccinations. Please, come see about me.

Oh my, Greta is just adorable! How sad that this woman could be so cold hearted as to kick out a senior kitty. The boyfriend will be gone and she'll be left alone w/nothing but regret and rightfully so. The part that concerns me is that Greta would prefer to have her human all to herself. Does that mean that she also doesn't get along w/other cats?
    Blessings,

    Hi Melissa,

Greta is still available, but I do have one person who is applying for her, but distance may be an issue for them since they are out of state. We are in the Reading area. Where are you located?

    Hi Melissa,

Thanks for all your help. We have been trying to get Greta into a foster home, but adoptions slowed down since May and I don't have any foster homes available yet. If you knwo of anyone who would be willing to foster, that would help Greta immensely.

Here's more info on her background, which will help in finding the right home. One of our volunteers, Diane, runs a cat sitting business, Greta's owner is one of her clients. For this reason, we've been trying to be very diplomatic about how we handle the situation and are focusing on trying to find a home rather than criticize the owner! We truly cannot grasp how Greta was her favorite and now has been so neglected. Our volunteer nicely pressured her client to seek a new home for Greta, especially after her eye injury. Greta deserves better.

Here's a bit more that Diane has told me, since she knows Greta very well and I have only met the kitty once. She is a quiet cat. She'll need a family who will allow her plenty of adjustment time to a new home since she has a more introverted disposition. She will always greet Diane when she pet sits, because she knows her. She enjoys being petted and purrs, but she's reluctant around new people. Diane thinks she'd be happiest in a home where she's an only cat, but she had been living with 2 other cats at one point during her life and she seemed to tolerate them so long as she kept her distance.

Greta's owners also have a black lab, it seems that trouble started with the combination of new dog/new boyfriend. So, a home with a dog probably wouldn't work, I'm going to specify that on Petfinders. Greta had been on Diazepam for awhile after she began showing signs of stress, it did help, but Diane said they stopped giving her the medication instead choosing to put her out. Diane was quite shocked to learn about this situation, because medicating Greta had actually gone well.

Greta stays really close to her home, often in the garage. Diane is confidant Greta's choice would be to stay indoors. Diane is getting me a copy of Greta's vet records, so I can have a clearer idea what the vet thought was going on with her eye.

The man who has contacted me is in Rhode Island, which I think is manageable. But, I need to see what he thinks and will let him know transporting her is a possibility. We have one woman in Utah who was very nice, but said she would want to be considered in the case of now home coming up on the East coast.

Thanks again for all your help. I know the right home for Greta is out there!

    Hi Missy,

I wanted to bring you up to speed on the situation. We've stumbled into
roadblock, which we think is only temporary. Here's what's going on and we
    are beyond frustrated.

Our volunteer, Diane, has told me that now her client is going to "try" to
keep Greta indoors. This decision came up after her client heard that Greta
was getting alot of attention on Petfinders. She had agreed to finding a
home for Greta but now she has changed her mind, at least temporarily. No
decision seems to last very long with this woman. It's enough to drive you
nuts because there's no thought given to Greta and improving her situation!

Needless to say, Diane & I are extremely discouraged. We are doubtful this
is going to happen or work because the "boyfriend" does not like Greta and
they still have the dog. But, because we can't physically remove Greta from
her owner without permission, we are going to have to wait and see what
happens. We are are very anxious to remove her from the situation she is
currently in. Diane is going to be in touch with Greta's owner this week to
try to encourage her to follow through with finding her another home.

I am going to be putting Greta on "Hold" on Petfinders. I have notified
anyone who has inquired about Greta in the hopes that they will still be
interested if we can persuade Greta's owner to release her.

Sorry about this, we are trying our best to get Greta. I am sure you
understand how difficult and irrational some people can be.

I will keep you updated and appreciate all your help.

Ugh. How discouraging. If it doesn't work out, and it probably won't, Greta will be tossed again and may come to harm. I do hope that they're able to convince this woman to give Greta up, poor girl.
    Blessings,
    Mary

There oughta be a law, that applies animal abuse to that woman! Putting a dear indoor senior cat outdoors and now look at the eye. Greta doesn't know how to fend for herself with the rough and tumble cats of the outdoors! Good Lord, it is lucky I am not near that woman just now, I'd be in big trouble myself (but man, would I feel better!)

Prayers for dear sweet Greta to find a purrfect home to live out her life in peace, with no more bouncing around with the willy nilly woman.

MANY MANY prayers for dear Greta.

The DOG should be outside, in an enclosed area with a nice doghouse!
