    MINE being one of them.

Sorta changes the overall theme and feel of the thread.

    I like National Parks

Maybe this will re-thread, the thread. Why wouldn't you like National Parks?

Anyone else have some photos from trips to National Parks - ones they are willing to share here?

I also love our State Parks here in Vermont.

That is the controversy, I think. Some people doubt that this thread(s) were REALLY about National Parks.

Phred, your post, and others, were in a different thread which Edwina's Secretary started, then deleted. This is a new thread, with the same title.

Phred, I think she deleted the original National Park topic, and then started this one. The other one got sort of out of hand - I think

I started a thread about my reaction upon seeing a couple of national parks.

That caused some people to post nasty things and insult me, etc.

That takes the fun out of posting photos or much of anything else.

    So I deleted the thread.

    Mission accomplished I guess.

Same thing happened with the sewing machine thread.

Sorry Phred. It disappoints me too but that seems to be how things go these days.

    <deep sigh>

If I remember, it was a nice photo.

    So sorry.

You probably should have left out all the political parts of the thread and posted more then one picture.

Your opinion that the Interstate freeway system for example, it is fantastic but its also in the Constitution under Interstate Commerce.

Or your gushing over Harry S Truman, who had nothing to do with the National Park Act of 1916 or any of the earlier acts creating National Parks by Grant and possibly Lincoln.

FWIW I also agreed that your sewing machine thread was a good idea. Back in elementary school we kids sewed some wash mitts together that I wish I still had today. I also have my own home sewn bivy sack for mountain climbing and camping.

So its twice now that I have agreed with you.

Not on topic of this thread, but it relates to its downturn:
The only way we are going to stop all of this flaming going on is self control. Dont hold grudges with people. Dont comment badly on someone (if you ain't got something good to say, say nothing at all). Do the obvious to stop it. Pointing fingers at people helps none. Arguing helps none. My $0.03 (I got a raise :P).

    On topic:
I really did like the thread that you posted. Nice pic .

I offered admiration for Theodore Roosevelt. You know...this guy...

One of President Theodore Roosevelt's most lasting and significant contributions to the world was the permanent preservation of the some of the most unique natural resources of the United States. According to the National Geographic, the area of the United States placed under public protection by Theodore Roosevelt, as National Parks, National Forests, game and bird preserves, and other federal reservations, comes to a total of approximately 230,000,000 acres or about 84,000 acres per day!
I could offer admiration for Truman but I did not. Not once...never did I mention Truman in that or any other thread I have ever posted on Pet Talk.

Now please, if my threads annoy you...stop reading them. My feelings will not be hurt.

Have Karen bring back the deleted thread. You praised H. S. Truman. No wonder you deleted the thread.

Youve posted more rude, insulting, and bellitling posts in threads Ive made, yet I respond to them rather then delete them and make a new post to try and make myself look good and innocent. You would have been better served by editing the original deleted post with the rest of the National park pics

    Ill even say it again.

The National Parks Act and funding is a good use of Federal Funds!!!!

If you want to make an issue about this, I agree the NPA is a good use of Fed funds.

Now make with the rest of the pics.

I've also been to Volcano National Park in Hawaii. Talk about amazing. We were able to hike about a mile or so over lava beds and see an actual lava flow.

Then we went back at night and you could see the orange streams of hot rock on the hillside that weren't visible in the daytime.

There was a part of the road that had been covered with lava just a month before we were there. We could walk on the cooled lava up to the "no parking" signs. The lava had come down and swirled around the signs so that only the top half of them remained and they were tilted at about a 30 degree angle. You could put your hand on the top of the pole and feel the heat coming out of it.

If I ask Karen to bring back the thread and you are wrong will you go away?
