Its been an upsetting day, the orthopedic surgeon said this injury to my foot could be life changing. The joint in the middle of the foot is all destroyed. I will have surgery tuesday to place three screws in my foot.

I am out of work for at least two months, I did just start in a new job, although its all with the state so I should be okay.

The doc said if I had a job that required me to be on my feet I would most likely have to retire.

I don't know how I am going to manage being totally reliant on my husband. This is going to be hell but if I mess up the screws then my ability to walk will be jeapordized...this just sucks.

I had an ekg and blood work to prepare for the surgery and got what they call a splint but for all intents and purposes its a cast up to my knee.

  3. Oh! I am so sorry to hear the injury is so bad! I broke bones in my feet twice - high school and college freshman -- p.e. class both times - but I had the advantage of youth and a not too bad break on my side.

The pain of foot surgery is out of proportion. I have had a few. Be sure and get pain relief. And take it.

I will think good thoughts for you.

That just sucks! This time last year I broke my leg walking Sunny and it ruined my summer. I hope you have a quick, uneventful surgery and heal up well and fast! Rent lots of good movies and let yourself be babied for a while

Oh I'm so sorry about this. Your saving grace is having your husband there w/you, at least. Prayers going up that you'll heal quickly and easily and that you'll have the best pain meds ever!
    Blessings,

Oh Honey I feel your pain. I broke my foot quite a few years ago and it was no walk in the park (pun intended). I hope you feel better and will light a candle for you.

I am so sorry to hear this. If you can after your surgery, just take a moment at a time - instead of making yourself nuts over all of the things that you want to do.

Foot pain is the worst - so be sure to accept the pain medication that they offer you.

You have my prayers for a speedy recovery.

OH no! I am so sorry. Well, as difficult as it may be, please let your husband take care of you and rest up. You don't want to jeopardize your ability to walk.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Oh dear! What terrible news. As others have said, and I'm sure you are determined to do, just follow doctor's orders as closely as possible. It sounds like a difficult and serious break. I hope you heal up well.

Thanks everyone, I corrected my last note...I mean to say I am out for at least two MONTHS not two weeks....ugh

The doc gave me some strong vicodin, lifes's good hehe. Apparantly motrin is not good to take before surgery.

    Oh OWWW...

Since you work for the state, hopefully you can get work that won't involve being on your feet a lot?

Prayers for a fast and better-than-expected recovery.
