Yes your so correct about not enough good stories of Cops doing a good job.. I also was so so saddened when I heard of the 4 Gents Officers that lost their lives to that killer.. SO Horrible... Now I will state if you watch the video real close you will see that the guy in the car started mouthing first without slowly explaining himself.. The Officer did state that if the Gent in the car just have been calm & explained himself then all of the mouthing would not have gotten so heated up..

I experienced it myself in college when I was with a date and his car started going on the fritz, we were speeding in hopes of reaching a gas station before it quit on us. A cop pulled us over for speeding and the car died there. The cop drove us to a station, waited with us till we got the part needed (a belt) and took us back to put it in. He never mentioned nor wrote us a ticket, and stayed until he saw the car was running and that we weren't stranded.

My ex-BIL was also a cop as well as some family friends. I suppose if you had said "many" rather than "most" I might not have felt the need to respond, and I suppose it's a matter of wording. I just dislike seeing people grouped up as a whole. Four cops just lost their lives last week doing their job to protect the public.

I do think this particular man was a heartless jerk and deserves more than just being shuffled to a desk job.

I was thinking that also however when you are in a situation like that you are usually hyper and not thinking, too bad the cop wasn't more understanding of that.

Like Caseysmom said - he was excited and stressed. He DID tell him, in fact he yelled it several times. And so did the woman who first got out of the car. She tried explaining to him and the cop just kept saying - get back!!! Not listening to her at all.

Point is even after someone else came and told him what was going on (a few different people) he still didn't let him go!
Ok, I need to stop now. I'm getting too angry and there's nothing I can do about it anyway. LOL
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

I live in a suburb of Dallas....I heard he issued an apology today, but I haven't heard it.. I personally think he should lose his job because I honestly don't think he believed he did anything wrong...They had one of his immediate supervisors on the news last night, I think, and he said the cop just kept telling him he felt he did everything right...THAT thinking is very SCARY! About the video...a security guard and a nurse came out and told the officer that the woman was about to die....The man needed to be with wife in what was probably the most difficult moment of her life, and he couldn't because of some overbearing officer. There are bad apples in every profession, and unfortunately, this man got the Dallas Police Dept's. best bad apple!!

I saw on the news today that the cop has resigned and publicly apologized for his actions. I'm not litigious but I can say unequivocally that if that had been done to me, if my loved one wanted me there as she took her last breath and was probably afraid, and I was kept from being at her side, I would sue and sue big. To deny this person to be w/her daughter and son-in-law as she left this life is criminal, IMO, and should be treated as such.
    Blessings,
    Mary
