Thanks so much everyone.
Randi, that sure is a cute picture of him from his slimmer days.
I just got back from Starr's vet appointment a little while ago and everything went well.My vet did a pcv/total protein blood test on him and I was able to wait for the results. His blood protein is now within the normal limits so he's fine.
She said she could do another blood test to help determine which protein it is but she doesn't want to waste my money.
She's a very caring vet and not in it for the money. Today's visit only cost me $22.50 which was just for the blood test. She didn't even charge me anything for his office re-check which would've been $42.00. I think that the front office was a little surprised by this. I like that each vet decides what they're going to charge their client and they can give discounts if they want to.
She's given me many discounts in the past. I'm now going to try giving Starr 2.5mg of pred every day to see how he'll do on this. If he doesn't do well during the first week then I'm supposed to put him back on 5mg of pred a day.
