I just have to see a light color because it gets so hot in FL. Darker materials keep the heat in them. Will I need a travel system too if I get a Britax. I read that the travel system buckets are good only for a few months (when the baby is small). They tend to outgrow them.
I bought a carset cover from Babies R Us (the ones that look like aluminum foil) because it can get pretty hot here too. It was relatively inexpensive. And Britax' seats have lots of cool patterns so you have a lot to choose from.

You don't necessarily have to get a travel system with a Britax seat because I think they range from 5lbs on up. They come with lots of cushions for the babies as they grow up and you can position it forward or rear facing. I would recommend a carrier, however because it's much easier to click in the carrier with a sleeping baby (don't wake them unless you absolutely have to) than it is to take the baby out of the stroller and strap into the carseat. Just my 2 cents (again ).

As for the crib, I bought mine from Wal-Mart. It was one of those 5 in 1 cribs like the one Sparks19 described. It came with a changing table that we never used because I wasn't smart enough to make sure I had enough space before I bought the darned thing. I will again co-sign what Johanna said about it looking funny now that it's a toddler bed. I am looking into buying a big boy bed for Hugito now because I don't like the way it looks.

get a crib where the side can be taken off...

That way when it comes time to change the crib sheets you just pull the matress out and change the sheets and slide it back in and put the side back on
You're still taking apart the entire crib just to change the friggen sheets. The sheets that zip avoid all that. Again, just what works for me.
