Well, I came to give an update. But I'm still trying to see through my tears after reading Katie's thread.

So I'll be brief and update more over the weekend. I saw him for about 5 minutes when I first got home. He seemed VERY happy to see me. It took a minute but I got him purring. Then he followed me while I read his paperwork from the vet and was rubbing against me, as best he could with the collar on.
I had to go feed the dogs and when I went back in he was hiding under the bed and would NOT come out. I kept talking to him telling him if he came out I'd take the collar off while I was with him for a break.
We went to dinner and when I got back he came out to see me again. I took his collar off and let him clean himself. I literally sat 6 inches from him while he cleaned and if he even got close to the incision I'd stop him. Oh, the looks he gave me...... I could only imagine what he was thinking.
OH, I gave him the medicine and he sat there like he was waiting for it. LOL Then I realized they only gave me enough for one dose. So I have to call tomorrow to get more. Unless they don't want him to have more.
The incision is about 4 to 5 inches long and has about 12 staples in it. So we have to go back in 10 - 14 days to remove them.

Ok, this is enough for now. More coming later and maybe even some pix.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

Cindy, thank you for caring about Andy when you have a pitiful boy on your hands too.

Sorry I did not post earlier, I know you understand though.

I am SO glad Taz is home, and that he looks ok. Thats alot of staples! Poor guy, it is so hard when we must vet them, isnt it?

I can only imagine what he was thinking when you would not let him lick his ouchies, but he will forget soon enough!

I dont know about the meds? I thought they got pain meds for about 3 days?
I just always request it, and have never had any problems. Maybe his age had something to do with it.

I will look for the pictures, and I am so glad he purred for you. Cats are so special!

Prayers still going out to my favorite old fella Taz, and I pray he heals up quickly and perfectly!

    Thank you so much Michelle!

That's great news that he's home!! Sounds like he's a good boy when it comes to taking his meds.

A speedy recovery to you, Taz!

    Thank you Kirsten!
And Katie, you have a lot on your mind right now. To even take a minute to post for my guy means so much to me. You are such a special person.

So I called the vet to ask about the meds. The girl I spoke to was in San Mateo, not the Concord office. She had to contact the Concord office and then get back to me. She calls me back after she looked up his chart and asked if I gave him 1cc. NO! I think I can read. I gave him between .1 and .2cc. She wanted to make sure I didn't overdose him. Geez, Bruce said the exact same thing last night.
So I went to the vet to pick up more meds and the nurse had syringes already full of the exact dosage. Why is everyone thinking I'm overdosing my damn cat!?! This hurt my feelings. They don't realize that Taz is my BABY.
Anyway, I've got more meds in case he needs it. I just want him to be comfortable. He's already irritated and keeps trying to come out of the room, but I don't want him running around out here.
He loves it when I take his collar off and let him clean his face and paws. I only leave it off of him while I'm right there with him so I can make sure he doesn't lick the incision. Last night he was Mr Sneaky and was licking on the other side of his leg where I couldn't see. Brat!
Oh, he was hissing at Paizly under the bedroom door. I guess it will be like starting all over again with the two of them once Taz is all healed up. That's okay though. My little man is going to be okay!!!

And I do owe a ton of HUGE thank you's to everyone here on PT for helping me through this.
