I never expected to see what just happened.

I was raised in Rhode Island, raised without prejudice. I didn't understand prejudice until 1963.

I took a bus trip from NYC to Norfolk, Virginia to visit my fiance. There was a stop in Richmond. It was there that I saw the separate restrooms, the separate water fountains. I was truly aghast.

And tonight we have elected Barack Obama to be President.
