I hope he is ok when you get back.
I had to read your post three times to figure out that a fire belly was a fish. lol I've never heard of one of those. The only fish I ever had was pool commets and minature catfish.

Opps my bad, hes a Fire Belly Newt
Not him, but what one looks like
http://l.yimg.com/g/images/spaceball.gif
He still alive!!! He didn't move at all, so he was a little dry. I picked him up & gently dunked him in the water.. his eyes opened up, he looked around & his back legs started goingBut not the front
I tried to encourage him to show me that his front legs still worked.. THEY DO!! I think his left hand might be broken, or atleast very sore.. thats the only hand that he doesn't want to use.. but he'll move the arm a little.
I moved him to a 5gal tank where I can keep the water super low so he has a less chance of drowning.
I think he'll pull through
I'll take photos when hes feeling better.
Your link didn't work, must have been a direct copy from Flickr I'm guessing from the link name spaceball. For Flickr you have to copy the address link, many ppl have a no copy feature that does what your link did.
Since you said newt this time, I just googled images of it to see. It's a rather pretty critter. I'd never heard or seen one of these before.
I'm glad he seems to be hanging in there for you. I hope he makes a full recovery.

I might have to move him into the closet with the door closed as I'm having issues heating his water, so hes not moving much. He is a LOT better, as he can swim & has stayed in the water all night & was alive when I picked him up this morning. he was just cold. I put a 60wt bulb inside the 5gal & I hope it'll warm the water a bit. But I know the closet will keep him warm, as its always the hotest room in my apt.
