    Newt chimes in . . . .

Newt Gingrich has an opinion, and is not shy about expressing it.

Very interesting Grace. Thanks for posting.

Things are very grim indeed. This bailout deal cements the Bush legacy.

Now on one hand, you have a VERY left wing, big government socialist in Obama.... More taxes and bigger spending. On the other hand, you have a "maverick" who cannot make up his mind and is seemingly unwilling to define himself.

    Either way, we are SCREWED.

Obama has clearly defined himself. Granted, what he SAYS is, IMHO, very far away from who he IS. McCain now has the ball in his court. He has an opportunity, as Newt defines, to stand up and be a real leader. Will he do it, or will he let Obama lie his way to the oval office?

All the more reason I guess I am gonna pull the lever for McCain. He's the guy who will at least try to protect my right to protect myself and my family... Because more and more... I feel I am gonna need it.

Grace, you have said that you are voting Obama because McCain is endorsed by Bush. If McCain comes out and clearly seperates himself from Bush... Would that change your mind? Or do you really think socialism is the answer?

What do you see wrong with socialism? I lived in Sweden, who's govt. is based on the socialist system, and apart from the taxes being high, there wasn't much bad about it. Even with high taxes, most families still had a summer or winter home, vacationed in southern europe and northern africa or somewhere warmer, and everyone had health care.

Every type of government has it's pros and cons. Just wondering what you find so wrong with Obama's "socialist" views?

Sweden has a higher per-capita income that the US, and a far smaller, more stable and overall healthier population. They can afford their model of socialism.

That's just it... the income is higher to begin with, so even with the high taxes, the people are well off. If we go that route, the socialism route, we'd have to have that as well. Which isn't a bad idea.

Yes, smaller. Yes, healthier. I don't think I really ever saw a fat Swede, lol.

Although you once said you had no horse in this race, I would have bet $$$, and won, that you would vote for McCain.

It’s way too late for that to happen. McCain has sold his soul to win the Presidency. There are other issues where I differ with him – Iraq for one. I was strongly opposed to invading that country from the very beginning.

That one will get my vote.

Well... I lived in Canada all my life until just the past couple of years. I can tell you that we have HIGH taxes (at least in ontario) and the economy there is struggling as well. yes people get "free" (pre paid) healthcare... but we certainly have our share of over weight people, smokers, alcoholics.. whatever other unhealthy habits. Our healthcare leaves A LOT to be desired... A LOT. For instance in my home town you cannot get a family physician. they are all full and no one is taking new patients. I don't know ANYONE who has a summer or winter vacation home. We aren't all wealthy

so no... if you go the socialism route you don't HAVE to have that. You will still have what you have now... but will have less in your pocket because you will paying through the nose with taxes.

R.I.P my dear Sweet Teddy. You will be missed forever. We love you.
