    A friend of mine had an elderly mother who was beginning to suffer from dementia. She and her brother were concerned about her living alone, especially after she found out that her mother had called 911 because the morning paper had not been delivered.

    As to the woman who called about the bunny's ears, I hope the operator told her if it was a juvenile lop, sometimes their ears don't flop down until they get a little older!

    There should be a different number than 999 or 911 for elders who are calling ... some are just lonely, I think, and need someone to listen.
