that's exactly what I've heard.
Spay before the first heat cycle due to the heat cycle causes an increase in cancers later in life.
And contrary to popular rural hick belief - a litter of puppies does not make the dog a better dog. (not saying your aunt said this - just I know that's the mentality I've dealt with around here)
