Well that bites the big benooch. My group has a return policy too, but if a cat is returned for anything other than a VERY good reason, they are put on a do-not-adopt list which is shared with other groups. Once in awhile there's a cat who doesn't fit in for whatever reason; this usually happens quickly and an exchange takes place. This has happened to me a few times. But I had a situation similar to yours when the family adopted one of my cats, then got a pug, and the pug was picking on the cat, so they returned the cat.
