Christy heard from Brian this morning and the connection was better so he was able to tell her a little more. They have found his things and it's all there but some of it is just a little banged up. They did not bring him the power cord for his computer so he isnot sure if it will work. He said he didn't think he was out long after being thrown - which he does not remember - because as soon as he came to he knew there were others hurt worse then he - he has done a little of the medic training so he began to help others. Later when things began to slow down he noticed that his back was stinging and hurting - he asked the doctor to look at it and the dr. pulled his shirt up and said - oh, shit. He said his lizard (tattoo) is now missing part of the end of his tail. Additional stuff was taken out of his right side and back. He is feeling better but not back to work yet. There was some wounds in the cartilage of his ear and jaw. But overall, he was one lucky guy! He definitely thinks someone was looking out for him because he doesn't know how a metal plate missed him because it had to pass him to go through the door of the truck it went through. Lots of trucks were damaged during the attack and are now being brought to the main base he is now staying at. His "room" was completely destroyed - they brought back a chunk to show him. I guess he was very lucky he was not inside it when the bomb blew.

So many of you have said that you have been praying for him during his time in Iraq. I am sure that is what has helped him get through this without being hurt worse. So Keep those prayers acoming. He - we - really need them.

On a side note, Christy opened the parish newsletter and found this paragraph on the school news page.

A special moment for Mrs. Wilkins (school secretary) was the day that Jasmine Corbitt came to the school with her mom (Christina), brother, and a man carrying Jasmine. I knew who this man was but I asked Jasmine who he was and with so much love and pride in her voice and eyes, she replied "My Dad" as she put her arms around his neck! Tears filled my eyes because I knew that her dad had been in Iraq and was home on leave. They were able to enjoy a short vacation as a family in Cincinnati before he has to return to Iraq until December. Several people in the office shook his hand and thanked him for his service to our country. Before he left, I asked if I could give him a hug. With the hug, I too thanked him and asked God to bless him. Thank you, Brian Corbitt for that touching moment and the realization of how much we owe the men and women who fight for our freedom. Godspeed!

Wasn't it interesting that came out the same week Brian was hurt?

I will continue to say prayers for Brian and your whole family. I know these updates mean a lot to all of us - because it is a first hand reminder of what all of our young men are going through for us.

I also want to pray that somehow things in Iraq can be resolved and we can leave and these men and women can go on to live a normal life with their loved ones.

Prayers on the way. I feel for all the soldiers and their familes affected by conflicts worldwide. My brother has been hurt several times in the line of duty and I know what its like to fear that there might be a time when he may not come back

*HUGS* Thank God Brian is safe. I will pray for him and every soldier serving our country.

Gosh, I just read this Diana, I'm so glad Brian is ok. Prayers for him, Christy & the kids, & all of you.

We're living in Navy housing right now, and every day I feel deep gratitude for the service rendered by all of our active military neighbors and their families. They are wonderful men and women, we couldn't ask to be part of a nicer community of people. God bless all of them and keep them safe.

    How's he doing??

How's "Our" Sgt. Brian doing these days??

Here's hoping he's healed up and is feeling A-OK again.

Is he back on full duty now?

    Hey Brian ~
We're all thinking about you, and sending Prayers for your safety, and for
    all your Comrades, too.

    Stay Safe, Sarge!

Brian is back on full duty now. He has rebuilt his "home". He is having some trouble with flashbacks and depression over his friends that were more seriously hurt or killed. I think he is realizing how much Christy and the kids mean to him because he is contacting them much more often and sending gifts occasionally. (Christy received 2 dozen roses about 3 weeks ago). At Brian's request, Christy has set Jasmine up with an e-mail address and they are sending letters back and forth. Jasmine's are dictated to her mother who is pretty good at getting her word for word. However, in one he told Jasmine he was rebuilding his "house" again and she wanted to know what happened to the first one (she has not been told he was hurt and the "house" blew down). Got to watch what you say to these kids - they remember things alot better than you do and she knew she hadn't heard anything about his house disappearing. He told her about the sand storms they have and how one blew his house down. I know you shouldn't lie to kids but she already worries about her dad and we don't want her getting focused on that.

He got official word that his return date is November 17th. He should be at Fort Drum, NY on that date. Now just to get that house in Cincinnati sold!

I can only imagine how relieved Christy & all the family are that he's ok, and he has a return date.
I'm glad he has access to the internet so he & Jasmine can stay in touch with e-mail.
We continue to pray for him, and your family. Prayers that the house sells soon, too.
