Donna the insurance is not just if you die,(i think we are talking about two different things here) it is to cover a numerous amount of things, for instance if you get sick and cannot go, i will get the airline ticket refunded, for renting a car, the excess is covered, it is also if your baggage gets delayed or goes missing, covers credit card, loss or stolen, and the biggy medical insurance, if you get sick or need an operation, it covers those type of things and much more,in my opinion i would never travel without it to an overseas destination,(it even will pay my airfare over there and accom, if one of my kids got sick over there and was hospitalised, something i would not have the extra for,) i have chosen an extensive policy as i want to make sure my kids are ok, you know what it is like, probably get less for myself, but when it comes to your kids, they get only the best lol.

We may have a reciprocal health scheme with aussie, but i am not sure, even so it does not cover everything, just because you are there for a short time and are young does not guarantee your well being, anyone can slip and fall and break a leg eh?

I think nearly everyone i know buys travel insurance these days,it is just too risky.
