I like EF.....It's more food and less personality.

The FG got into a little trouble way back when. I don't think he'll be on the tube anytime soon. Apparently he took the term "spooning" a little to literally!

    Karen,

I missed that episode. But think of this! Charm City cake packaged trifles, now in you refridgerated food section? There probably isn't enough extra cake for huge distribution, but I am sure that people would be willing to pay a few bucks extra for the product??

LB, What would we call Gini's program? Cooking on Booze?

    About the TVFN Food Challenges.

I read that the restaurant industry was taking it on the chin because of the economic climate.

    The promotion is pretty brilliant.

A new menu that covers the whole range of food.

You promote it as a contest, pay 25,000 dollars for the rights to those recipes and sell them at TGI Fridays.

At 10 bucks a plate for the main courses and 2.50 for a piece of cake, pie..you recoup the prize money and make a profit after 2,000 plates.

The thing that got me were the 2nd and 3rd place prizes......Freaking cookwear? Toss them some love, a coupla grand and a gift certificate to TGIFs maybe?

Why do some of the soundtracks/theme music for the TVFN shows sound like bad porn music?

The RR intro theme to 30 mninute meals makes me want to scream....If I am flipping thru the channels and hear it I cringe!

Don't ask me why I think this.
    ------------------

The Next TVFN humiliation starts on Sunday! I can hardly wait to see how Booby Flake and Mr Tushman treat the next round of talent!

I saw the previews and they is a gal that takes a header in the kitchen....
    Lovely!

I can see it know...Hey, aren't you the gal that fell in the kitchen during that cooking contest?

If I were to enter one of these things - that would be me. Maybe SHE had half her sense of balance surgically removed, too, and we'll get a nice PSA on hidden disabilities? Or maybe, like me prior to said surgery, she is just a klutz anyway.

    Should be interesting, anyway ...

Did anyone see Paula's Party last night? Rosie O'Donnell was her guest--at least at the beginning, I had to turn the channel. Paula was acting ridiculous and Rosie was acting worse than usual. The two of them together was more than I could take. It was obnoxious.

Spoiler ... if you haven't seen the Top Chef finale yet!

I was very glad that Stephanie won. She seems like a genuinely nice person, as well as an excellent chef. Richard made some mistakes, and admitted he "choked," but I was just glad that Lisa didn't win, as she always struck me as too arrogant and abrasive.

    -----------

The end kinda fizzled out....I thought the chefs helping out was kinda neat and pulling them from was cruel! What an opportunity! To cook with a legend.

The Richard thing kinda puzzled me at first. I sat there and wondered about him doing it as a 'pity move' then I saw that he was sincere and took great pride in what he cooked.-

Yeah, Lisa wasn't the easiest person to root for..

    --------------

I watched Dinner Impossible last night and was torn between not liking Irvine.and felling sorry for him. But then I started to laugh and thought about Marc Summers and Boob Tooshman! SUCKERS!!!!!!

With the Martha Stewart Machine showing up more and more on on TVFN I can't help but wonder if she has anything to do with the tightening up the screening of the people on the shows?

It really hurts Summers because it's HIS production company- He produces the programs and then sells them to TVFN. It's like the Alton Brown confession. I always thought he had some kind of Chem/Food prep schooling.

Nope. I can read from a script and act out food skits. No, I don't have a banana dance!

He fell outta favor for me. I know it's hard to get ideas for so many programs, but to make it sound like you are the main brain, that bugs!

When I cook a steak, I always make sure that I turn up the heat to full burner. I came up with this idea when I....

Dude, it was the script writers!!!!

    --------

    Last thing about Irvine.

He'll show up on Survivor or one of those reality shows where they put disgraced celebs into a house and make them compete against each other.

BTW, Martha got a second chance and she's a FELON!!!!

I am having a terrible case of pity for Irvine myself. He just looks pitiful now to me.

Looking forward to seeing the show tomorrow night with Mothra.

    MOTHRA!

    LOVE IT!

She is like a friggin moth that you get inside the house during the summer.
It shows up at the strangest times and bugs the crap outta you.

    ----------

Ted Allen has a new show scheded for the TVFN.

It's described as "Good Eats, Mythbusters" and another show I can't remember.

I saw Ted Allen walking down Hollywood Blvd a few months ago. He knows he's TA and he walks like it too! Hard to miss.....

He's gonna do stuff like finding out if an apple a day, does keep the doctor away and how long chewing gum takes to digest....

    Here's some suggestions from me.....

How to keep the price of corn down.
How does salmonella get into the food chain.
Why I only get two pickle chips in my Big Mac.
How to get food into Darfur.

You know, real stories about food and how to keep people from starving!

I just went back thru this thread and saw a post about a TVFN contest where the winners were going to go to the November 2 NASCAR RACE.

I think it was PD and GF hosting....

I have to look for the tie-ins and the one hour special that they will air.

Oh, If it is PD hosting the drivers better keep their fingers in their gloves!

That Paula Deen is a busy woman isn't she? How many more things can that woman do at once?

I have to agree with you again, Richard. Almost all of the FN heavy hitters are obnoxious for one reason or another.

I have noticed that Sandra Lee and Simply Delicioso have stopped the cleavage shots. Giada is still hanging out of everything she wears.

I keep seeing ads for Emeril moving to FLN exclusively. We get him at least twice a day here on FN. Is everyone else getting it too? I wonder if the FLN is watchable.

Tonight is Alton Brown's new show. I'll be watching that for sure.

Guy Fieri....Guy Fieri......Guy Fieri.......OK, ENOUGH ALREADY!!! How much more can we take? Get the remote and start pushing those buttons everybody. I can not wait to see how they yuck it up with the NASCAR folks. Wait a minute.....maybe I can wait.
The FN is setting a bad example for this country by giving GF so much time in the spotlight. It takes away any class they might have. Suddenly, the FN thinks acting like a pig is entertaining??

I have to tell you, Richard, after I commented on those Californians grilling lettuce, everybody is doing it. It seems to be a popular thing now.

Lastly, the girl that does "How'd That Get On My Plate", I think her name is Sunny. She is wild and crazy isn't she? Is she the GF of the female set?

The FLN is a Mothra Stewart vehicle. It's her station/channel. I don't get it on my cable.

Alton Brown is a total loser.

Tonight on the Iron Chef program (snail battle) I tuned in to see what was beig cooked. I stuck around because, as in all ICA programs they cook so much weird stuff I could not figure it out.

They were cooking sweetbread and snails, When AB went to talk to the judges they had some wrestler, a woman and the grumpy white guy that never likes anything, Steingartner? AB first asks the wrestler about snails and the guy makes a "never really ate them before, but I will keep an open mind" comment, the woman give some benign answer and the conversation goes to the old dude. AB asks him about his experience with snails. It's jeffrey steingartner, I think.....He says that he had hoped that there would have been some kind of giant African snail that is a foot long. He holds his hands up about a foot apart while talking to show how big they are.

AB then says, "Well maybe you and the wrestler can go out after the show and share a giant snail dinner." The camera cuts back and forth to the two panel members and they are sitting there with an absolutely blank look on their face. Obviously AB meant it as a joke, but you can tell that it was verging on some kind of some kind of sexual insult.

When Brown sees that he has offended them in some way and says, "Let's just move along." I am paraphrasing here because I had to stop and try to figure out what had just happened, It took place around 15 minutes in to the program....check it out.

If you watch the end of the new AB series you probably will see the usual mentions of all the people who 'donated' travel and lodgings for the series.
If the TVFN had to pay for the programs it would never get made.

I think I posted this before but, The TVFN show producers go to the travel councils of the area where they want to do the program and pitch the idea to the members. The members, looking for a cheap way to bring in tourists, call all their relatives or people who they get kickbacks from to promote their businesses.

The show gets made and if you get 500,000 people to view it, even a one percent increase of traffic into an area means 5,000 more people to spend money during a travel season.

    Oh I almost forgot.

Watch how many eateries that he goes to and gets a plate on the table in front of him. I just saw the first segment of the program, The dish was Salted Cod in Creole sauce. HE never tasted the dish and when he went back to talk to the woman who was cooking, He picked up the raw piece of fish on the table then wiped his hands on his jeans.

HE did the same thing in his other specials. With other traveling cooks they taste what is prepared, this dude is a wuss.

About cah lee fuh nee ahns and grilled food. We have nice weather most of the year, I have grilled in 35 degree weather-so it is true, we are crazy.

But, there is a joke about us Mexican people and why we do not BBQ....
It's because the beans and rice fall thru the grill!

I have seen people grill fruit, weird...and even avocados!

So, If it don't fall in the fire. We have tried!
