I have never had shepherd's pie made with beef - growing up it was yummy yummy yummy and made with chunks of lamb, in dark gravy, with mashed potatoes on top. Nothing else, in my mind, counts as shepherd's pie. After all, where would a shepherd get beef?

Now, sadly, I am allergic to both beef AND lamb, so none for me, thanks!
