IMHO, the zoo has nothing to do with the wild. It doesn't matter one bit if the babies are raised with humans or their mother because they're going to be in a zoo! I'd expect them to step in an raise the babies, especially if the species is even remotely endangered.
Those people who protest zoos stepping in, need to get a life and some common sense. Do you think they'd raise puppies if the mother dog died?
