It may have been written tongue in cheek but, unfortunately, it's true of some people. You all know my views on cleanliness so I won't go into a rant here but it's sad that people, especially women, who have compassion for animals are viewed in such a manner. The writer neglected to mention that some of us rescue cats because irresponsible pet owners do not alter their animals, so the number of offspring is staggering. I can say that I was involved in rescue. Period. Not just of cats but of anything w/fur and/or feathers. And I didn't keep every one of them. I found homes for them or released them if they were too feral. We all know of cat hoarders, women (usually) who have dozens of cats in a small space, who treat their cats like children and indeed do sublimate. Their home becomes a giant litter box, they go deep into debt financing their cats' health care and many times they shut out the world because they're ashamed of how their home has deteriorated. Not being a psychologist, I'm unqualified and I don't feel the need to comment other than to say that I feel it's sad and it sure sounds like mental illness to me. I love all my cats but I love myself more. Balance is key.![]()
